Vision Screening for Infants and Preschoolers

One of the most critical stages of visual development is during the first year of life; therefore, we recommend routine vision screening for all infants ages 6-12 months. Due to problems with insurance coverage of the "I-Screen Digital Vision Screening" we would like to offer you the option of seeing an Optometrist that has agreed to partner with our practice in order to provide important screening for your child.

Conditions such as amblyopia should be detected early in order to be fully corrected. If you are unable, or unwilling, to see an optometrist by the time your child reaches their first birthday, we are happy to perform screening in our office. This service is, however, not billable to your insurance company and must be paid in full at the time the test is performed. The cost of this exam is $25, and children at any age may receive this exam once a year with their parent's approval. Your provider will be happy to discuss this with you at your child's well check.

It continues to be our goal to find cost effective ways of providing your child with the highest quality health care available. Please feel free to call our office if you have any questions regarding this issue. Additional information on infant vision screen can be found on the InfantSEE website.
